House System
To help foster a strong sense of community, teamwork, and healthy competition, our school is divided into four Houses. Every child is allocated a House when they join Medina Primary and remains in that team throughout their primary journey. Siblings are placed in the same House to build a shared family connection.
Each House is named after a British tree species, connecting our pupils directly to nature and reflecting strength, growth, resilience, and wisdom:
-
Beech
-
Oak
-
Sycamore
-
Willow
House Points & Competitions
Throughout the school year, children earn team points for positive behaviour, effort, kindness, and academic achievement. Points are also awarded during whole-school events such as Sports Day, curriculum challenges, and inter-House competitions.
Each week, the total scores are calculated, and the winning House is celebrated during our school assembly to receive the House Trophy Shield—a moment of great pride for pupils!
House Leadership
In the Autumn term, Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to stand as House Captains. These elected leaders act as positive role models, organise house events, coordinate sports competitions, and collect weekly House Points. Candidates present a campaign speech to their house members before a democratic election takes place.
Our House system is a growing tradition at Medina Primary School, building belonging, encouragement, and a shared celebration of success.
