🌲 Year 6 Residential Update! 🌲

Monday

Year 6 are all settled into their pods at Tile Barn. We had great fun today working on our communication skills in nightline and our resilience in climbing the tower.

Tuesday

I’ve just had my check-in with year 6 today, and I’m thrilled to report that our Year 6s are having an absolute blast!

I arrived just as the legendary room inspections had begun. To everyone’s absolute amazement, the rooms were very tidy, and the children were incredibly proud to show them off! (Let’s hope this new habit lasts when they get home! 😉)

Here is a little taste of what the kids are saying so far:

💬 “The food is great. I had 4 helpings last night!”

💬 “The climbing challenge was great—we had lots of fun doing that!”

💬 “We are enjoying socializing with our friends 24/7!”

The teachers have also passed on a massive well done to everyone—they reported that all the children have been exceptionally well-behaved and, best of all, everyone slept well last night! 💤

I am so proud of them all. Keep making amazing memories, Year 6! 🌟

Year 6 have had a busy day of activities today. We have enjoyed fire lighting, vertical gym and a group walk through the local nature reserve. We were very lucky to see some ponies and a deer up close as well as a very friendly robin.

Wednesday

The children slept well last night with many needing to be woken up this morning for breakfast!
The day started with some exploring of the grounds, using maps for orienteering. After this, we all had fun seeing how far or high we could launch our water rockets.
Not deterred by the rain, this afternoon we tackled craters stack, having to work together to stack crates and climb up them as high as possible. Our final activity of the day was archery with many hitting the yellow!
It has been a very busy day for year 6 today.

Thursday

The last full day at Tile Barn!

Year 6 didn’t let the rain stop them today! They tackled the abseiling tower and the low ropes course this morning. Some groups were given the challenge of completing a section of the course in silence which really tested their teamwork and communication skills.

After lunch, they took part in Miss Burford’s Residential Quiz and ended the day with some teamwork where they had to use some gutter piping to get a ball from one side of the field to the other.
